Leaving a Legacy

We are truly thankful for every legacy gift left to support our work at MUVE. These contributions make a lasting difference and help ensure our services continue for years to come.

If you’re considering leaving a gift in your Will, there are three common ways to do so. Below, we’ve outlined each option and the wording you’ll need to ensure your wishes are carried out.

A Percentage of Your Estate

One of the most popular choices is to leave a portion of your estate after your loved ones have been looked after. This type of gift, known as a residuary gift, can be any percentage you decide and naturally adjusts with inflation.

Suggested Wording:

“I leave to Mid-Ulster Victims Empowerment, 34 Fairhill Road, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, BT80 8AG (Charity No. NIC100714), _ percent (____%) of the residue of my estate to be used for its general charitable purposes. I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or any authorised officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Executors.”

A Fixed Cash Gift

You may prefer to leave a specific amount of money, often referred to as a pecuniary gift. Do bear in mind that its value may decrease over time due to inflation, so regular reviews are a good idea.

Suggested Wording:

I leave to Mid-Ulster Victims Empowerment, 34 Fairhill Road, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, BT80 8AG (Charity No. NIC100714), the sum of £___ (amount in words) for its general charitable purposes, and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my Executors.

Gift of a Specific Item

You can also choose to leave a particular item to Mid-Ulster Victims Empowerment, such as a piece of jewellery, an antique or even a property. A gift like this should be named in your Will.

Example

I give to Mid-Ulster Victims Empowerment, 34 Fairhill Road, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, BT80 8AG (Charity No. NIC100714), (description of item(s)) absolutely for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors.
